This BERTIE was harvested by two work experience students who joined us from County Upper School.

The final statistics were:

Weight: 1346g
Sugar: 16.02%
Na: 11.2 mg/100g beet
K: 144 mg/100g beet
Amino N: 5 mg/100g beet
Amino N: 31.21 mg/100g sugar

Would you like to grow a BERTIE the BEET in your school? If so, we would like to hear from you.

Filling a pot with compostWe can send you some sugar beet seeds and following these instructions, you can follow the growth of your beet from sowing in March to harvesting in July

You can send in photos, pictures and reports on the growth of your beet as it grows and see them here on the BERTIE the BEET website. You can also compare your beet to our pot grown beet and to the real BERTIE growing in the field.
